Having a bug out bag is an important investment in the safety of every family. A good bug out bag will provide first aid, emergency food, ways to signal for help, tools, a potential weapon, navigation tools and many other essentials for survival in the event of a regional or national emergency.

No government is free of the dangers of lawlessness, although many people choose to labor under this delusion. Knowing this, it's important to have enough gear to get you and your family to safety, and to ensure the safety of those you encounter along the way. It's impossible to prepare for everything, but if you pack properly, you generally can have just enough to make do.

    Bug out bag for the family but on my vest I have a small survival kit, first aid kit, and a good blade.

    One is for fighting to survive. Also I moved away from the trend of looking like a wannabe soldier w my survival gear. You don’t stand out as much and there are less questions to answer if you get pulled over at a traffic stop etc.

    Both. Consider one the on-body kit.
    I wouldn’t wear it, except for practice in a private location, unless the situation warranted it. You do need to have it set up properly. That takes experimentation and actually wearing it.

    If it’s to the point that you believe SHTF will come in your time then you will need to defend yourself and to do that you need a good weapon. Get passed all the “wannabe commando” and “internet warrior” crap. Get a good fighting rifle and a side arm. If you carry a rifle then you need extra ammo, and what better way to carry it then in magazines on a vest. And with the current mindset of so many to do this and work in teams don’t let some idiot tell you “you’ll never use that much ammo”. You can burn through a lot of you get jumped by a group with rifles aiming to take what you have.
