An Apache foot trap is an intimidating trap due to the rows of spikes which are designed to hold onto a deer's food and keep it from getting away. This scary trap is also likely to hold onto any intruders on your property, as well.
In a SHTF situation, a single deer is going to provide food for a long time, so every effort should be made to capture these deer in any way possible. One unfortunate aspect of this trap is that, unlike a snare, anything that falls inside is going to suffer a great deal of pain and likely permanent injury. This is bad news for both the deer that gets away and you, should you forget where your trap was buried. Use this trap with caution.

I discussed this with the maker we both agreed the “Bear” traps used by the Vietnamese would be more effective.
Do you have any info or videos on them? Or are you referencing punji pits?
They are a type of punji pit. They showcase them in Vietnam I’ll see if I can find a video for you.
My husband was in Vietnam. He always suggests punji pits. The long, sharpened bamboo in trenches. Is that different from what you’re talking about?
He said the stakes were coated in feces because, if you did make it out, you’d die of infection before you could get medivacced out.
Well there are different types of traps but see the one at 1:20 any of these would work for larger game though. … https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2YDeqZHpQXw&sns=fb
